Warning, Look At The Testimonials - Cell Phone Window Mount Review

By Taylor Rodriguez

Everything worked perfectly. I would buy this kit again. I like the fact that I get both a vent and windshield mount for one low price. I use this every day for both my Droid X and my Zune. The device is very sturdy and is made of solid heavy-duty plastic. In my installation, I used the included 3M adhesive plate to mount the holder on the dash beside my cd receiver and slightly above and to the left of the gear shift, making it easy to see at a glance and to operate while keeping my right hand close to the steering wheel. It's a great product! Not as strong as windshield mount for Garmin GPS. Using dash mount, very adjustable and holds the phone well. Product seems pretty fragile so I try my best not to move it but it works for the most part. In both of my vehicles (Taurus and Siena), the clips really don't hold all that well allowing the whole mount to move with the additional weight of the Droid. Further, trying to use the phone requires holding it steady first.

I use this for a nexus s phone in a 2009 Honda fit. I stuck the adhesive disk on the dash and use the suction mount on the disk. Having the vents open means the phone warms up a bit in the winter, but I aim most of the warm air either at my feet or the windshield, so it's not a huge issue. The bigger issue with the vent mount is that the clips can soften up if they're warm, so if the vent mount gets jostled, either when you're mounting the phone to the holder or rotating it, the clips can lose their grip on the vent vanes. The phone is secure over rough roads and with the case on; I am not worried if it falls in the car. Overall a great value compared to many other universal smartphone car docks.

The adapter had enough adjustment to securely fasten to the vent. It also allows for 360 degree rotation of the holder, with some angling ability, and can be locked in any position.

I'm glad the vent clip isn't the only piece in this because it's totally useless. Any phone that has any weight to it (I have a big Droid 2) is going to pull the vent down, and it's also going to pull the adjustment arm on the mount down as well. The suction is great and holds the device very well. If you decide to use the vent mount though - you will be disappointed.

This is one of those products. It is well thought out and well executed.

All of the mounts work with the included holding piece. I'll review each piece separately. However, I purchased it on March 17th and it's already fallen apart - the plastic has completely disintegrated on the windshield mount where the angle adjustment knob attaches and the phone no longer stays in place. The air vent component still works, but it doesn't sit very well in my car and blocks the air vent completely (I'm using it with an iPhone) I can return it to the company for a replacement for $9 plus shipping - I only paid $15 for it at Amazon so that seems crazy.
