Is Apple going to announce iPhone 5 on September 7? According to Kodiwarisan, Apple will be hosting a media event on Wednesday, September 7, where new iPods and presumably the upcoming iPhone 5 will be announced.
Apple has traditionally held their Fall media events in the first part of September with the past three events taking place on September 1st, 2010, September 9th, 2009, and September 9th, 2008. Last year’s event introduced new iPod touch, iPod nano and iPod shuffle models.
Every September for the past few years, Apple has unveiled the latest updates to its line of iPod media players.
Rumored features of the iPhone 5 include Apple’s A5 processor, an 8-megapixel camera, and a larger screen.
Tech publications have generally focused on September or October as a possible launch date for the iPhone 5.
Meanwhile, analysts and pundits seem to be debating whether Apple intends to release a line of low-cost iPhones to complement its next-generation device.
According to Mac Rumors, leaked images of a prototype shows that the new iPhone will be very similar if not identical in size to the iPhone 4. The image could be of the alleged iPhone 4S, a cheaper version of the iPhone 4 used to extend their place in the market.
It also has been rumored that the iPhone 4 will come to Sprint at the same time as the upcoming iPhone 5.
In addition to Sprint, T-Mobile will jump in the iPhone5 ring as PC Magazine has reported that the iPhone 5 will be coming their way too. MacTrast put out the original rumor, sourcing an “informant” stating “We expect the addition of the iPhone, and the iPhone 5′s ability to run on our 3G network to make a significant financial difference for T-Mobile”.
2011′s iPhone 5 announcement–or whatever the device will be named, will also break the approximately 12-month annual cycle between iPhone releases.
Last year’s Fall music event saw the announcement of new iPod Touch, Nano, and Shuffle models.
